Excursions - NASA Tour

moonbuggy-busTranslator: Mathilda Drews

Two teams from Europe arrived tonight in Huntsville, Alabama, after a 24-hour-trip. The multinational teams from Germany and Russia, sponsored and founded by the ‘International Space Education Institute’ Leipzig and its partner, are the only ones in Europe which completed the complicated application process with all technical, sporting and economic requirements. They will now prepare themselves for a week on spot, mounting their vehicles and on 25th April 2013 compete against 119 international teams. It is the most skillful construction and skill, as well as to provide a variety of other basic ethical values of a high-performance team which will be tested. Until then, we invite all interested parties to follow the preparations.

The competition NASA Moon Buggy Race celebrates from the 25th-27th of April 2013 its 20th Anniversary. For 7 years the International Space Education Institute (ISEI) teams take part as some of the most successful international teams participating. The participation of international teams is due to the commitment of NASA scientist Dr. Jesco von Puttkamer. In 2010, the ISEI teams reached the World Cup and have since then strongly supported the distribution of the competition in Europe and help develop it in numerous facets. A direct result of the influence from Leipzig is the second time this year awarded "Electronics & Telemetry price". This is the one both teams mainly prepared for.

The goal for most of the participants is a decent IB. Everyone connected a scientific subject with this competition that can be used in their schools examinations. These demands should be completed neat and for the purpose of further professional career. This year’s goal is not the podium, but the European idea of an excellent cooperation with an effect on school, work and study.
